Oneness with nature
Today, as I sat on the rocks and listened to the waves as they crashed on the shore, I recorded a meditation among nature. My experience of this was that the longer I sat and observed how I felt to connect to the sensations of my body, a deep sense of peace came over me and I now feel reconnected to this experience and rejuvenated and calmed.
The sea and in particular the rhythmic sound of the waves connects me to a sense of oneness with nature and reminds me of the interconnectivity of all of us. When I opened my eyes after the meditation, I noticed how many herbs and flowers and shades of green were around me and the landscape appeared more vibrant. The smell of the herbs and flowers uplifted and filled me with hope.
“To be in the wild of nature and connected to the experience of this as a whole feels a little like a gift that I have longed for all of my life..”
Rachel Podger
The walk back along the coastal path seemed less arduous than I had remembered previously and I felt as if nature had rewarded me with an extra spring in my step. I noticed that the blue of the sea glistened with light and I found the sounds that rose from the beach brought a smile to my face whereas earlier in the day I found it deafening and slightly oppressive.
To be in the wild of nature and connected to the experience of this as a whole feels a little like a gift that I have longed for all of my life and yet it waited out of the door of my house for me to find it.
I just need to remember to look and observe and allow myself to take it in and then I can really appreciate its abounding beauty and presence. A little like life, when I relax and am mindful, it really is the gift that keeps giving.
