Rays of Light

Rays of Light

As I walked this morning, I paused briefly to observe the rays of light and was struck by both their beauty and ability to find their way through the branches of the trees and down into the earth.  It reminded me of how important it is for me to be alert and mindful when out walking, especially at this time of year.  The light helped me to feel joyful and brought me fully into the present moment, and I became more aware and connected to the earth and the wonder of all of Nature.  The sense that it gave me enabled me to transport myself into the vastness of the sky and feel more deeply in touch with the light.   I realise this is especially valuable when I am feeling drawn down into the heaviness of the darkness that comes upon me as the nights begin to draw in.  The light and its reflection provide me with an inner warmth that is more difficult to achieve at this time of year and it lifts my spirit.

“I notice how often the light and its reflection helps to bring me into the present moment and at the same time fills me with hope for the future.”

Rachel Podger

When I connected to the trees, I felt peaceful and rooted and I experienced the earth beneath my feet as both soft and solid; I was safe and felt strengthened and nourished by my connection to both the earth and the trees.   As I allowed this feeling to expand within me, I noticed that I then became aware of the gentle sway of the trees and the rustle of the leaves encouraged me to connect with a sense of spaciousness.  It was the light of the sun that found its way through the boughs of the trees that transformed this space for me.I notice how often the light and its reflection helps to bring me into the present moment and at the same time fills me with hope for the future.
