The Moon
The full moon that passed a couple of weeks ago was strikingly beautiful and marked the beginning of Spring. It felt particularly powerful in its presence and from past experience, my feelings can be somewhat heightened during its fullest phase. It shines light into the darkness of my experience at these times and I know to take extra care of myself and be vigilant with my Mindfulness practice; loving kindness and what I am thankful for are areas that are especially helpful during this time.Another aspect of the moon and its phases is that of planting and growing vegetables and flowers. I have been interested in this for so long and I am determined to put this curiosity into action as we come into a time of new growth and renewed hope. As I write we are now coming up to the new moon and a time of new beginnings.
“Tending a garden and being with my feelings are in my view interconnected and the more I sit with this I feel this will be my inspiration to draw on this curiosity of the moon.”

I am aware too that in Transpersonal Psychotherapy we see it as having a gentle receptive nature that aligns itself with nurturing and gentleness. Preparing the ground for planting can be challenging, not unlike the emotional work we are challenged to undertake. I hope that the seeds I plant will sprout forth even more energetically if I get them in the ground at a time that aligns with the moon and its cycles. It reminds me of the quality of patience and also the importance of remembering that if it doesn’t work out this time I can try again. To learn from experience and to remain open and curious can be challenging at times but always driving for getting things right and perfect is even more demanding and disheartening. I shall start now and find out when to plant after this beautiful snow moon that reignited my passion for growing my own food; even if it is just a tub of spinach or potatoes!
