The Colour Pink

The Colour Pink

The colour pink has always been my favourite colour.  I have moved away from it from time to time and yesterday, when I wore it for the day, I noticed how happy and uplifted I felt whenever I looked down at it.  It reminds me of my younger self; I had my bedroom painted pink and every time I went in there it made me smile and feel happy.  As my adult self I realised it connected me to remember my younger self and the importance of spending time with her.  She knows the importance of play and connection with animals and nature and reminds my adult self to take time out and to be in the moment.  To find joy in the smallest things.

“This morning, whilst the rain poured down, I paused to smell the most beautiful pink daphne that was in bloom.  It had the sweetest scent and its fragrant presence and gentle colour brought joy to a gloomy morning.”

Rachel Podger

I am in awe of the plant world and how when they bloom and they bring us moments of connection to uplift our spirit.  To take in the subtleties and simplicity of a single flower and its' scent is a true and pure gift from Nature. Flowers and scent bring together all of my years on this earth and remind me of the past and bring me into the present.  They help me find a spring in my step when my ageing menopausal body is in need of a lift; and I might find some pink paint or crayon to scribble with, or a daphne plant for the garden to enjoy in a pot by the front door.  A beautiful greeting on a winter’s day.
