Eating in Alignment With my Body
For some time, I have felt heavier in my body than I am comfortable with and having accepted this feeling of heaviness, I am now ready to look at some of my eating habits. I was brought up to believe that it was good to graze for blood sugar levels, and for the majority of my life, I have done so and have metabolised food well enough. However, menopause has taught me this is no longer the case; my heaviness has increased gradually, and I want to shift this and create a new habit and way of eating that is aligned with my body as it now, at a different stage of my life.Whilst reading about a variety of women’s experiences on changing their eating habits, I was very touched by the words of one in particular, and they resonated deeply. She said that if she fails to stick to a healthy eating plan on her allotted day, she has learnt to accept this gracefully and move on to the next day.

I found this both inspiring and nurturing and am encouraged to embrace this change of eating with as much grace and loving kindness as I can, for the heart, aligned with self-compassion, is an excellent place to live and feel nourished by. Once more, I welcome my beginner's mind and learn more about food and how I consume it and how it feels to receive nurture and energy from it. Menopause really does offer opportunities for new ways of being.
