Acknowledging Tension in My Toes

Acknowledging Tensions in My Toes

As I walked this morning, I felt uplifted and cleansed by the wind on my face. As it has been cold over the past few days, the feeling of the warmth of this experience surprised me, and I noticed my response was to pause and take in a breath of gratitude for this warm embrace. My entire being relaxed, and I noticed my shoulders drop as the tension that I was unaware of released down through my body and into the ground. As my awareness was drawn down to my feet, I wriggled my toes in acknowledgement of this newfound freedom.

“My toes are essential to my physical balance, but a conscious awareness of them allows me to find a deeper connection to my body.”

Rachel Podger

At that moment, I realised how much tension my toes held and that my toes curling told me I was clinging onto something, most likely a thought or a particular way of being. This realisation freed me to take in a different perspective. My toes are essential to my physical balance, but a conscious awareness of them allows me to find a deeper connection to my body. Doing so assists me in maintaining and restoring inner balance and well-being. This morning, their playful movement helped me find my breath and connect to my body, which responded by feeling re-energised and rejuvenated.
