Reaching My Goal

Reaching my Goal

I have reached the goal I set myself at the beginning of the year to lose the weight that I had been gradually building up for a number of years. I thought this was impossible to achieve, as I believed the myth that menopause would prevent me from reaching my goal. This, of course, made me think I was resigned to living in a body I didn’t feel comfortable in. I approached this goal as a challenge to and for myself with a sense of determination that I hadn’t experienced since I completed my training six years ago, which culminated in my qualification as a Transpersonal Integrative Psychotherapist.

“As I reconnected to this aspect of myself, I admired my commitment and hard work, which allowed me to reach a renewed sense of fulfilment.”

Rachel Podger

In hindsight, I appreciate that I didn’t allow or give myself the time and space to celebrate this achievement, and I eventually hit a place of darkness, questioning what it had all been for. My determined and hard-working self needed to acknowledge my success and resilience. As I reconnected to this aspect of myself, I admired my commitment and hard work, which allowed me to reach a renewed sense of fulfilment. I will remember this feeling and ensure I spend time reflecting on this achievement and draw on both challenges I set myself. I will also remember how good I feel having succeeded in shedding both the myth and the pounds.
